The Commission’s record, catalogued and searchable
This archive catalogues 6,869 records from the work of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission: amnesty hearings and decisions, human rights violation hearings, special hearings, submissions and the six-volume Final Report. Each record is standardised, summarised, and linked back to its original document on the public SABC / SAHA archive.
1,887 amnesty case numbers link 3,727 hearing transcripts to 1,088 Amnesty Committee decisions, so a matter can be read from the evidence given in the hall through to how it was resolved.
The record over time
Records by recorded event date. Most hearings fall between 1996 and 2001; a few carry earlier offence dates.
Event dates span 1963–2011. 4,132 of 6,869 records carry an explicit date.
