Who we are

Your choice
The first time you visit, a box at the foot of the page asks whether we may use Google Analytics cookies. You can accept or reject, and both are equally easy.
If you accept, Google Tag Manager loads Google Analytics, which sets the cookies listed below and records your visit. If you reject, or do not choose, neither Google Tag Manager nor Google Analytics loads, no analytics cookies are set and nothing about your visit is sent to Google. The archive works the same either way.
We remember your choice for 12 months, in your browser’s local storage (under trc-cookie-consent) and in a small cookie, then ask again. Neither is sent to Google.

The Google Analytics cookies stay in your browser for up to 2 years unless you delete them, reject them in Cookie settings, or clear your browser.
What Google Analytics records
If you accept, Google Analytics 4 records the pages you view, how you reached the site (for example from a search engine or a link), your approximate location (country and city), and your device, browser and screen size. Google states that Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses.
Each visit is sent to two Google Analytics properties: this archive’s own, and Evidence Systems’ company-wide property. We use them to see which parts of the archive people read and where it needs work. We do not use them for advertising or to identify you.
Google stores this information on its servers, which may be outside South Africa, and handles it under its own privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.
Visitor counts and speed from our host
This archive is hosted by Vercel. Vercel Web Analytics counts visits, and Vercel Speed Insights measures how quickly pages load. Both run for every visitor, because they set no cookies, store nothing on your device and report only totals: the page viewed, the referring site, the country, and the browser, operating system and type of device.
Vercel may process this information outside South Africa, under its own privacy policy at vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy.
Changing your mind
You can change your choice at any time with Cookie settings at the foot of any page. If you withdraw consent, we stop Google Analytics, delete its cookies from your browser and reload the page.
Your rights
Under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) you can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, and object to us using it. Email romanos@evidencesystems.co.za.
If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Information Regulator at inforegulator.org.za.

If we change how this archive uses cookies or measures visits, we will update this page and the date at the top.
